ABOUT Mrs. Dragon

My name is Mrs. Dragon, and I teach 7th grade English-Language Arts at School 20 in Passaic, New Jersey. Many of you may know me as Ms. Federico, 8th grade ELA teacher from last year.

Here are some quick facts about myself. I was born in New Jersey, and I attended West Milford High School. I graduated William Paterson University and was a member of the Humanities Honors college. I married my history-teacher husband in June 2018, and we are very happy together! My hobbies include playing tennis, travelling (Disney World being my happy place), and drawing. I have been teaching with my PGTA family for one year now and I am looking forward to my second year here!

I have always had a passion for studying literature and writing, and I hope to provide my students with the critical thinking skills, creative abilities, and questioning tactics necessary to turn the study of literature into a lifelong love. I am looking forward to an exciting and productive 2018-2019 school year!

My Vision

As a teacher, I aim to create a community of problem-solvers, writers, researchers, scholars, and/or poets through an enriching, creative, safe, and collaborative classroom environment.

My Mission

I will help my students fulfill these roles by 1) facilitating authentic, creative discussion/thought and by 2) inspiring them to make real-world connections between literature and their lives, culture, interests, etc.
